Picante Mexican Grill is a restaurant located in Gurgaon, Haryana. We were approached by them for their space design which included interior walls as well. The end result was a lively and colorful space which communicates to the customers the core value and benefits of the food they are served.
Apart from the walls and their designs, we also actively participated in deciding the furniture and upholstery colors for the restaurant, so as to maintain consistency in the overall look and feel of the place.
Working on a restaurant identity that extends into the physical space is a particular kind of design assignment. The brand is not contained on a card or a screen. It lives in the walls, the furniture, the light and the atmosphere that surround the guest from the moment they walk in. Every design decision is a decision about how the dining experience feels. Wishbox Studio’s work for Picante Mexican Grill was shaped by that expanded responsibility.
Picante Mexican Grill is a restaurant in Gurgaon, Haryana, built around the bold flavours and vibrant spirit of Mexican cuisine. The brief went beyond conventional restaurant branding. Wishbox was approached for the full space design, including the interior wall design, and was also involved in decisions around furniture and upholstery colour. The goal was a cohesive environment where every visual element communicated the same thing: this is a restaurant that knows its personality and commits to it.
As a restaurant branding agency with experience across F&B identity design, Wishbox understood that the starting point for Picante was defining what the brand’s personality actually was, not just what Mexican food looks like in a generic sense. Mexican cuisine has a specific visual language in the Indian dining market that tends toward predictable territory. The Picante identity needed to find a more considered expression of the same energy.
The result was a lively and colourful environment that communicates the core values of the food and the dining culture it comes from. Colour was used actively rather than decoratively, with wall design choices made to create atmosphere rather than simply fill space.
For Picante, the interior walls were not background. They were the primary brand surface. The design applied to the walls was developed to express the restaurant’s character in a way that a logo on a menu alone could not. Bold visual elements and considered typographic treatments were used to create a space that felt alive and distinctly its own.
Furniture and upholstery colour decisions were made in close consultation with the design direction to ensure the total environment held together as a unified F&B identity design rather than a collection of independently chosen elements. Menu and packaging design elements were developed to maintain consistency between what the customer experiences at the table and what surrounds them in the space.
The discipline across this project was consistency. In a full-environment restaurant identity, the guest’s experience of the brand is cumulative. They absorb the wall design, the furniture colours, the menu design and the overall atmosphere together, not separately. Wishbox’s role was to ensure those elements reinforced each other rather than competing.
Picante Mexican Grill demonstrates what Wishbox delivers when a restaurant brand brief extends into the physical environment: a cohesive identity that makes the space itself the most powerful piece of brand communication.
