When UNESCO and Whisper came together to create Through the Ages: A History of Womanhood, the brief that arrived at Wishbox Studio was far bigger than a coffee table book. It was an opportunity to give presence to a story that has spent centuries being whispered, hidden and misunderstood.
The book traces the history of menstruation across cultures, timelines and taboos, documenting how perceptions of womanhood have evolved through the ages. But telling a story that spans centuries demanded more than research. Every era needed to feel like it belonged to its own time. As history progressed, so did our visual language. The art style evolved chapter by chapter, allowing each period to speak in a voice authentic to its context rather than conforming to a singular aesthetic.
The challenge lay in balancing beauty with substance. We had to create something visually compelling without diluting the depth of the subject, and handle a conversation long burdened by stigma with the sensitivity and dignity it deserves. Every design decision was made to ensure that the narrative remained at the forefront.
Because some subjects deserve more than awareness. They deserve space, presence and permanence. For Wishbox, this project was a reminder that meaningful design does more than inform; it turns silence into something seen, felt and remembered.
Let’s design the strategic positioning that attracts the right opportunities.
