Working on a brand identity for a fashion label is a particular kind of design assignment. The product is personal. The audience is discerning and attuned to authenticity. And the visual identity has to do something that most brand systems are not asked to do: carry personality as its primary payload. For Mellowdrama, that personality was clear from the brief. Chic, urban, young and slightly irreverent. Getting the identity right meant designing from inside that character, not reaching for it from the outside.
Mellowdrama is a fashion brand specialising in apparel for the young urban Indian woman. The brand sits in the territory between minimal and expressive, between clean and playful. The identity needed to communicate this positioning immediately, across every touchpoint from hang tags to Instagram content to retail presence. It also needed to be built for longevity, not trend.
Wishbox approached this as a lifestyle brand identity design project where visual restraint was the most important creative tool. Clean lines dominate the system. Straight edges, sharp geometry and confident use of negative space create an identity that feels like a wardrobe that has been edited down to what actually matters. There is nothing here that is not earning its place.
Contemporary typography was selected to carry the brand through time rather than anchor it to a moment. Fashion identities that over-design for a current trend date quickly. Mellowdrama’s typographic system is built to feel current now and coherent in five years.
Creative brand design is tested not in brand guidelines documents but in real applications. The Mellowdrama identity was built to hold at every scale and in every context: a hang tag the size of a thumb, a packaging box in a flatlay, a 9:16 story on social media. Each application was considered as part of the system rather than as an afterthought.
As a packaging design agency with experience in fashion and lifestyle, Wishbox understands that a brand’s physical touchpoints often carry more emotional weight than its digital ones. The moment a customer holds a Mellowdrama garment for the first time, the tags and packaging are doing active brand work. The identity was built to make sure that work is done well.
The slight irreverence in the brief was not ignored, it was held in reserve. Too much quirkiness in a fashion brand identity tips into novelty. Too little and the brand reads as another clean contemporary label among dozens of others. Mellowdrama’s identity carries its personality in the details: a typographic choice here, a proportion decision there. Enough to be noticed. Not enough to explain itself.
Mellowdrama’s brand identity is an example of what Wishbox does when lifestyle brand design is treated as seriously as strategic design. The result is an identity that knows exactly who it is for and makes that audience feel seen.

Let’s design the strategic positioning that attracts the right opportunities.
