India Climate Collaborative is a first-of-its-kind collaborative working to accelerate climate action in India. This is an annual report, which compiles their work over a period of two years, showing the growth of their community and their plans for the future that include working toward climate change.

Our take on this annual report design was to keep it image-heavy with interesting photo treatments to make heavy topics, such as climate change, more palatable. We also highlight the work done by the ICC, making it easier for readers to consume the content in smaller chunks. The report was kept neat and minimal with a neutral white background, using yellow and green as accent colors to pique the readers’ interest. We also added circular elements in low opacity to add to the sophistication of the whole report keeping it in line with the collaborative’s identity.

A Report for One of India’s Most Urgent Climate Collaboratives

Working on a publication for the India Climate Collaborative is a particular kind of design assignment. The organisation is doing work that matters at a national and global scale. The audience includes institutional funders, policy advocates and senior decision-makers who have seen a lot of reports and can tell immediately when one has been designed with intent and when it has simply been laid out. The Wishbox Studio approach to this report was shaped by that reality.

The Brief

The ICC Dasra Report compiles two years of the collaborative’s work, capturing community growth, programme milestones and the alliance’s roadmap for scaling climate action across sectors. As an impact report communication project, it needed to do more than document. It needed to build confidence, demonstrate momentum and make complex climate data feel legible to a diverse readership without oversimplifying the substance.

The Design Approach

Wishbox approached this as an NGO report design agency with experience in publication work for the social sector. The central creative decision was to lead with imagery rather than data. Custom photo treatments were applied throughout, converting field photography into layered, textured visuals that hold attention without overwhelming. Images were not used as decoration — they were deployed as narrative tools that carried meaning the text could not.

Content hierarchy was built from the ground up. Annual publications of this nature tend to arrive as dense manuscripts. The design work involved restructuring that content into a system of readable sections, pull quotes, data callouts and visual breaks so that a reader could navigate at their own pace and still absorb the most critical information without reading every word.

Making Heavy Topics Accessible

Annual publication design for climate organisations faces a specific challenge: the subject matter is serious and the data is dense, but the report needs to be read. A publication that goes unread communicates nothing. The design approach kept the layout neat and editorial, with a neutral white background providing visual breathing room. Yellow and green accents, drawn from the ICC’s existing identity, were used to direct the reader’s eye toward key information without creating visual noise. Circular graphic elements in low opacity added sophistication and reinforced the collaborative’s visual identity throughout.

Designing for Two Audiences

The report was built to function at two speeds. For engaged stakeholders reading cover to cover, every section flows with editorial logic. For time-poor decision-makers who need the impact story quickly, the visual hierarchy ensures that headlines, data highlights and summary callouts deliver the essential argument without requiring full engagement. Good impact report communication is designed for both.

What This Work Represents

For organisations like ICC, a well-designed annual report is one of the most important pieces of communication they produce each year. It is the artefact that funders return to, that partners share and that potential collaborators use to assess credibility. Wishbox’s approach to this report was built to honour that weight, with the craft and clarity the ICC’s work deserves.
