The cafe culture in Gurgaon has grown at a pace that mirrors the city itself, fast, ambitious and constantly reinventing. Cyber City, one of the most densely populated corporate hubs in the NCR, is home to thousands of professionals who eat out regularly and expect more than just a meal. They want an experience. In this context, standing out as a cafe requires a very deliberate point of view. Bhookhaa has one.
The name itself sets the tone. Bhookhaa, the Hindi word for hungry, is unapologetically direct. It does not dress itself up in borrowed foreign vocabulary or aspirational abstraction. It says exactly what it is: a place for people who are genuinely, enthusiastically hungry. The brand’s promise to bring together modern cuisine and old-world charm for the nostalgic foodie is a rich and specific brief. It speaks to a generation that grew up on home-cooked food and now eats out for pleasure, people who want flavour and feeling in equal measure.
When Bhookhaa approached Wishbox Studio, the central ask was to translate this eclectic and quirky personality into a visual identity that felt genuinely happy-go-lucky. This is a more demanding brief than it appears. Designing for joy without sliding into the generic cheerfulness of a fast food chain requires restraint and intention. The identity needed to feel warm and spontaneous, like a place you discover and immediately want to return to.
The F&B branding landscape in India is crowded with cafes that default to either rustic chalkboard aesthetics or polished minimal identities. Bhookhaa needed to sit outside both of these camps.
Wishbox anchored the identity in two immediately communicative choices: bright colour and a smile. The use of bold, cheerful colour does the first job of any restaurant brand, it creates instant recognition and positive association. In the context of Cyber City, where the built environment can feel relentlessly corporate, a burst of colour is not just a design choice. It is an invitation.
The smile is the emotional core of the identity. It is the simplest possible visual signal of hospitality and it is deployed here with clarity and confidence. Rather than overcomplicating the brand with layers of visual metaphor, Wishbox let this single expressive element do the work. The result is an identity that communicates warmth and personality at a glance, exactly what a neighbourhood cafe needs to build a loyal following.
The primary audience for Bhookhaa is the working professional in and around Cyber City, someone who may eat at the cafe several times a week and wants a space that feels like a genuine break from the screen. But the nostalgic foodie positioning also speaks to a broader audience: anyone who finds comfort in the idea of food that carries memory and meaning alongside its flavour.
This dual appeal, approachable for the regular lunch crowd yet layered enough for the food-curious, is held together by the brand identity. The brightness draws people in. The personality keeps them coming back.
In restaurant identity design, the menu is one of the most critical touchpoints. It is the document a customer holds in their hands for the duration of their visit and it needs to extend the brand experience seamlessly. For Bhookhaa, the design of menus and collaterals followed the same principles as the core identity: lively, readable and full of character. The visual language established in the logo and colour palette carries through to every surface the customer encounters, creating a coherent experience that reinforces the brand at every step.
A strong restaurant brand is not a luxury for cafes at Bhookhaa’s scale; it is a competitive necessity. In a market where new cafes open and close with regularity, brand identity is often the deciding factor in whether a place builds a community or remains a one-time visit. Wishbox’s work for Bhookhaa gave the brand the visual confidence to claim its space in a demanding market. The identity is ownable, scalable and deeply suited to the spirit of what Bhookhaa is trying to be.
Let’s design the strategic positioning that attracts the right opportunities.
