The unique two-day event was set up against the serene and breathtaking backdrop of the Swiss mountains which hosted two matches over two days. The two teams Badrutt’s Palace DIAMONDS and ROYALS had star-studded cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Kaif, Mahela Jayawardene, Lasith Malinga, Shoaib Akhtar, Michael Hussey, Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, Daniel Vettori, Nathan McCullum, Grant Elliot, Monty Panesar, Owais Shah, etc. The itinerary was also boasted of a scenic tour of the Swiss local and a gala dinner where the fans have got the chance to rub shoulders with their favorite cricket personalities.
The “Cricket on Ice” event was actually started by the British and has been played ever since for over 25 years on the St. Moritz frozen lake. The lake freezes into an extremely thick layer of ice which then is covered by the soft falling snow, enabling the lake to withstand more than 200 tons of weight, which makes it the perfect area to construct a pavilion village and grandstands to watch and support the festivities.
WBS Team ensured that the brand’s spokespersons create a special rapport and brand image with senior media members in the sports space via various bridge building meetings and conversations.
Special interactions with sports media ensured that the brand’s latest strategic partnerships were well understood and received. WishBox successfully achieved more than 250 coverage which includes electronic, print & online. All these coverage(s) were a mix of pre-event hype that was created, cricketer interviews, interviews of the spokespersons and match results
As a well-thought strategy, WishBox Studio had suggested a FAM Trip of selected Indian journalists to St.Moritz. This idea worked very well for the brand as the journalists who were taken along didn’t only did interviews but also filed series of stories on the tournament, matches and even the cricket gestures which went viral on social media.
WBS had also got St. Moritz Ice Cricket in all leading news channels including NDTV, Headlines Today, CNBC Awaaz, India Today News as well as the live update on various print media such as The Times of India, Hindustan Times, The Hindu, The Telegraph etc helped the brand gain popularity soon.
The event all in all has been a huge success and all the strategies by WishBox Studio were well appreciated by both Indian and Swiss team of St. Moritz.
