Road to COP26: Investing in India

COP is an annual UN climate change conference, a summit attended by the countries that signed the UNFCC. World leaders, politicians, negotiators, representatives of civil society, come together to discuss how to address the world’s climate crisis.

India Climate Collaborative, an initiative started by Tata Trust, undertaken by philanthropists from India to understand the challenges posed by climate change and find solutions for climate crisis.

Investing in India, is a part of ICC where they have translated decisions made at COP26 into fundable solutions on the ground.

As part of creating Investing in India’s identity, careful consideration was given to the logo.

The logo represents 3 major aspects of Climate change, Nature, Renewable energy and Society, through a minimalistic and geometric illustration inside three standing bars which represent the initial 1′ of ‘Investing in India’. The gradation from blue to red, generated from the heat wave maps of India, depicting urgent need to take action on climate change. This illustration style and gradation in colors has been used throughout in the guidelines and has been integrated on pictures, carefully selected to represent India.

The minimal, geometric look of Montserrat typeface was an easy choice, as it keeps focus on the critical matter but also compliments the illustrations made out of raw shapes in logo. This poster and signage inspired typeface, also came handy in readability factor.

The brief of infographics was to create a detailed and yet interesting looking infographic on COP26 and the major role India is playing. These were divided into four categories, what is COP26 and why is it important? just transition, green recovery and heavy industries. Since the infographics were heavy on statistical graphs and different forms of data visualization, it was important to use the brand colors effectively to capture the reader’s attention. Illustrations, Interesting representation of graphs and bars, Icons, are some assets that have been used to provide the requisite visual relief from an otherwise text-heavy infographic.
